About My Travels

This blog is written based on personal stays and reviews of hotels, resorts and training centres where I conduct programs. The pictures are taken decidedly with the iPhone camera with no editing done. The reviews are done to give people who want to have an idea of the training venues in and around Malaysia.
The reviews are also done based on my personal experiences and interactions with the personnel working at the venues supporting the training function i am conducting. i wish I had done this years ago because I have been in this training business in excess of 18 years. The venues involved would be in the hundreds. But as they say, better late than never.
As such, most of the commentaries I remark would be very much training related. naturally, incidences that are not training related would also be mentioned if they are noteworthy. Please also look sat the dates I conduct the programs to give time relevance, to be fair to the venues.

Thank You

Trolak Residence Resort, Perak, Malaysia

Date: 20-22nd September 2014
Client: Harta Packaging
Program: Team Building
Number of Participants: 40

This weekend I had the pleasure to train a group of very highly energised people. The venue was Trolak Residence in Trolak. It is a training venue that belongs to the Felda group of companies. The venue has ample green space for outdoor activities. It offers a wide range of activities that range from what ever you can create to these you can carry out at the obstacle course, the high rope and low rope, jungle activities as well as white water rafting.
As far as accommodation is concerned, it is quite basic like those you can find at three star hotels devoid of a swimming pool. But for team building this is very adequate and comfortable because most of the time you will be out doing activities. On the food arena, it does offer a wide variety from Malay to Chinese to western dishes. For me the taste was average. One thing worth mentioning, there was a wide selection of 'ulam' offered.
The staff were friendly and helpful. I am also happy with the speed with which they respond to any requests, even last minute. To me this is the test of service level in any organisation that supports training. It is of course easy to respond to planned requests. But if the crew can react quickly to spontaneous requests, then they are really responsive. Overall I must say I had a very satisfying experience here and so did my participants. It is a also noteworthy here that I have actually took participants to this venue countless number of times since more than 16 years ago and the staff has never failed to deliver a high standard of service. Kudos to them for being able to maintain the high service standard !
